FAQ

Answers to what people ask us most — choosing a camouflage pattern, how our gear fits, what it is made from, and how shipping, returns and the warranty work. If what you need is not here, get in touch and one of us will answer.

Choosing a camouflage pattern

Which Virtus camouflage pattern should I choose?

Pick the pattern that matches the ground you will be on. Virtus camouflage comes in seven patterns, each designed for a specific environment:

Pattern Designed for
Tariis Woodland and forest
Xeros Arid and rocky ground
Boreas Snow and alpine
EKHO Urban
NYX Low light
Delos Water and marine
PYRA High-visibility athletic

What camouflage works best in desert or arid terrain?

Xeros. It is the Virtus pattern designed for arid and rocky ground — open desert, scrub, high-desert rock. It is currently printed on the Astraes jacket, Kaos pants and the Warrior baseball cap.

What camouflage works best in snow?

Boreas, the Virtus pattern designed for snow and alpine ground. It is printed on the Astraes jacket and the Warrior baseball cap.

Do you make an urban camouflage pattern?

Yes — EKHO, designed for urban ground, in a black-and-grey colorway. It is printed on the Mitchell leggings.

Which products come in which pattern?

Solid colors are available across most of the range. Our other patterns — Tariis, NYX, Delos and PYRA — are currently available for licensing rather than on our own apparel.

What is the difference between the Operational and Lifestyle series?

Both are the same patterns; the difference is the application. The Operational series is the technical, field-focused version, used in licensing. The Lifestyle series is the version printed on our apparel — the same geometry adapted for everyday wear, EDC and vehicle wraps. Everything we sell is printed in Lifestyle patterns.

Is Virtus camouflage patented?

Yes. Virtus camouflage is protected by a granted US design patent covering all fourteen pattern variants. We own the patterns outright, which is why you will not find them on any other brand's gear unless that brand licenses them from us.

Can I license a Virtus camouflage pattern for my own products?

Yes. Pattern licensing is a core part of our business and we work with manufacturers across apparel, gear, firearms and vehicle wraps. Licensing enquiries go through virtuscamo.com or our contact page.

Fit and sizing

How does your sizing run?

True to size, with a trim athletic cut through the chest and waist. Order the size you normally wear. If you are between sizes, or you plan to layer heavily underneath, size up.

Are your jackets unisex?

Yes. The Astraes and Helios jackets are both cut unisex, in sizes XXS–XL. They are true to size with a closer fit than a standard jacket — not oversized, and not something you need to size down for. Take your usual size.

Will your gear fit under body armor or a pack?

Yes — the Astraes is designed for it. It is cut to work under a ruck, a harness or body armor, with reinforced seams at the shoulders and sides where pack straps and plate carriers wear first, and enough four-way stretch to let you reach and climb without the hem riding up.

Where do I find a size chart?

On the product page. Each garment carries its own size guide with the measurements for that specific piece, in inches and centimetres, plus how to take the measurements.

Materials, care and warranty

Are your jackets waterproof?

No — water-resistant and wind-resistant, which is a real difference. The Astraes sheds rain and wet snow and holds off wind, but it is not a sealed waterproof shell and will not keep you dry in sustained heavy rain. We would rather say that plainly than have you find out on the hill.

What is your apparel made from?

Mostly technical polyester-spandex blends, chosen per garment. The Astraes uses a 90% polyester / 10% spandex four-way-stretch shell with bonded insulation. The Kaos pants use the same blend in a woven construction. The Mitchell leggings are 88% polyester / 12% spandex. The Warrior cap is 60% cotton / 40% polyester; our trucker and dad hats are 100% cotton.

Is Virtus apparel made in the USA?

Some of it. Our Conquer and Virtus caps and several of our tees and tanks are made in the USA — the trucker hats are 100% union made by Workers United. Our legacy technical line — the Astraes, Helios, Kaos, Mitchell, Solly and Renegade — was produced in Vietnam. We are actively moving more production to US mills and manufacturers, and we state on each product where it was made.

How do I wash technical outerwear and base layers?

Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle, with a technical-fabric detergent rather than standard detergent, and no fabric softener — softener clogs the fibres and kills water repellency. Hang to dry or tumble on low. Do not dry clean, do not bleach, and do not iron printed camouflage. Our care guide covers each garment in more detail.

What does your warranty cover?

Ninety days against manufacturing defects — stitching that fails, hardware that breaks, a seam that comes apart under normal use. It does not cover ordinary wear, accidental damage or alterations. If something fails that should not have, get in touch through our contact page with a photo and your order number.

Ordering, shipping and returns

How long until my order ships?

Orders are processed within 1–3 business days, then ship by USPS or UPS. You will get tracking by email when it leaves us.

Do you offer free shipping?

Yes — free domestic shipping on orders over $100. Below that, shipping is calculated at checkout based on your address and the size of the order.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, with one exception. International shipping is calculated at checkout. We have paused shipping to the European Union while we complete compliance with the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). We will reopen EU shipping once that is done.

What is your return policy?

Seven days for a change of mind, ninety days for a manufacturing defect. Change-of-mind returns need to come back unworn, in resellable condition, with tags attached — items returned without tags or not in resellable condition may be subject to a restocking fee of up to 20%. Refunds go back to the original payment method.

Can I exchange for a different size?

We handle size changes as a return and a new order rather than a direct exchange. Send the original back within the 7-day change-of-mind window and place a new order for the size you want — that way you are not waiting on the return to clear before your size is reserved. Start a return through our contact page.

Who are you?
